Welcome to the web site of the High Plains Underground Water Conservation District No.1, headquartered at Lubbock, Texas.

Created in September 1951, the High Plains Underground Water Conservation District provides for the conservation, preservation, protection, recharging, and prevention of waste of groundwater stored in the Ogallala aquifer within the boundaries of the district.

The High Plains Water District serves residents in a 7.5 million acre service area consisting of all or part of 16 Southern High Plains counties.

ON-LINE WATER METER REGISTRATION SITE

CLICK HERE to access a program that allows meter installers, owners, or operators to record the location of new water meter installations on-line.

This has two benefits:  (1) it may be used in place of a paper form which must be completed and forwarded to the HPWD office; and (2) it allows easier identification and processing of meters for EQIP approval.

A video tutorial explains the process of creating an account, associating your account with property, and the correct way to locate a meter.  Other modules will be added in the future to allow users to associate wells with meters & to add contiguous acres.
